Camera manufacturers only seem to bother about Mac and Windows. I quite happily use mine with linux, so here's a place to gather some thoughts and links to essential software to do digital photography with Linux

  • Digikam, Album/ portfolio management & upload from camera intergrates tools such as raw conversion
  • Jhead & CRWinfo for looking at EXIF headers getting the exposure, f-stop lens date etc from the image (or harder RAW file)
  • dcraw a RAW conversion, bad pixel management, Dave Coffin is a complete hero and has put a lot of work in to dcraw, Well done Dave!
  • Pawel Jochym's Plugin to do it (RAW conversion)from within the gimp using dcraw with fancy extras
  • The Gimp (GNU image manipulation program)... a viable Photoshop alternative on Linux & Windows
  • Monica Monitor calibration gamma on Linux
  • Powered by 1.1.6.1
